Domkat Bali was born on February 27,1940 in Zamko Langtang,Plateau State;Married Esther Jumai Nanshep Lar in the year 1968,he had one
son and one daughter.Education:-He attended Elementary School at Mban and Langtang,Plateau State,Provincial Secondary School, Kuru,1955-60,Nigeria Millitary Training College,Kaduna,April-August 1961,Royal Military Academy Sandhurst,England,1962-63;
Career:-Worked at tin mines of
jos,enlisted in the Nigeria army in 1961;Troop Commander,1964;Commissioned Lieutenant 1964,and promoted Captain 1965;Battery commander Nigeria Army 1966,Commander Artillery Regiment Nigeria Army 1967-69;Promoted to Major 1968;Commander corps of artillery Nigeria army 1970-71;Promoted Lieutenant-Colonel 1970;Colonel General Staff,2 Infantry Division Ibadan 1973;Promoted Colonel 1973;Commander 9 Infantry Brigade Nigeria Army Akure,1974-75,Appointed Adjutant General of the Nigeria army 1975-76,Promoted Brigadier in 1976;Commander corps of artillery Nigeria army 1976-77;General Officer Commanding 1st Mechanised Infantry Division,Kaduna 1978;General Officer Commanding 4 infantry Division Lagos,1978-79,Promoted Major-General 1979,Commandant Command and Staff College,Jaji,1981-83,Director Army Training and Operation 1983,Appointed Minister of Defence and Chief of Defence Staff and member,defunct Supreme Millitary Council Lagos,1984-85;Appointed chairman,Joint chief of staff and member armed forces ruling council and minister of defence,1985-90,Promoted Lieutenant General 1988 and he glorious retired from the service in the year 1990.
