Indian Army Major booked for compelling lady colleague to commit suicide

Indian Army officer committed suicide after alleged blackmailing.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police has lodged FIR against Indian Army Major for alleged rape, conspiracy and blackmail of a lady colleague. The colleague, who was also a major in the army, committed suicide last month
in the industrial township of Bari Brahmana in Samba district. The Police has also booked a case against lady officer’s former husband for blackmailing. Her former husband is a businessman based in Noida. However, no person has been arrested in the case. The last known posting of the accused, Major Anup Kumar, was Rajouri.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Joginder Singh, confirmed the registration of FIR against Major Anup and the victim’s former husband. He said that the lady officer committed suicide in her quarters on the Army Supply Corps premises. It appeared that she shot herself as the doors were bolted inside. Her body was recovered from the room with bullet wounds in her head. The police also recovered a diary, a wallet and the weapon after the suicide.
The police also recovered three suicide notes in which she alleged harassment by Major Anup Kumar and he should be held responsible for her suicide. Forensic Science Laboratory confirmed that two of the suicide letters bore her hand-writing. The lady officer developed contacts with Major Anup in 2012-13 when she was posted in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He developed relations with her after promising marriage.
She was also allegedly harassed by her former husband. He threatened her to make her relationship with Major Anup Kumar public.
