Anambra guber: Atiku, Oyegun, Tinubu, others back Andy Uba.

AHEAD of the All Progressive Congress, APC, governorship primaries in Anambra state, party leaders like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National chairman of APC, John Odigie Oyegun and the National leader and former Lagos state governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu have thrown their weight behind Senator Andy Uba for the governorship ticket of the party. Also, backing the candidature of Senator Uba are Senate President Bukola Saraki, former National chairman of the party,
Chief Bisi Akande, Senator Ken Nnamani
and Senator Chris Ngige. A national officer of the party during the weekend told Nigerian Pilot that the leadership of the party is comfortable with the candidature of Senator Uba because of his track records, achievements in the state and most importantly a grassroots mobilser and politician that would deliver the party in the forthcoming governorship election. According to the national officer, the party would make the governorship primaries open for all but the national leadership of the party will make their position known on Senator Andy Uba candidature. He said that so far, the only person the
party believes can conveniently send the All Progressive Grant Alliance, APGA, led government in the state packing is Senator Uba. He said that the party was very happy when Senator Andy Uba took the decision to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the APC. As a two-time Senator, Uba attracted a lot of goodwill from the federal government to the state. Senator for Anambra South in April 2011 on the platform of the PDP. He defected to the APC weeks back. The leadership crises in the PDP motivated the move he took. In 2007, Uba competed successfully in the PDP primaries for the Anambra State governorship election and was elected governor. However, former Governor Peter Obi challenged the election. The odds favoured him as the apex court declared Peter Obi governor of Anambra state. With the recent development in Anambra politics, Senator Andy Uba may likely pick the APC governorship ticket in the state for the forthcoming governorship election.
