10 reasons Buhari, APC got on the firing line of celebrities

For the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government, goodwill is increasingly becoming a scarce commodity. The wave of disenchantment with public policy and governance is not only rising but threatening the cohesion of the country.
At the last check, Nigerian celebrities have taken up the gauntlet, venting their spleen at the way and manner the current administration has steered the affairs of the country.
The thrust of their grievances stems from everything that has gone wrong with the ruling party, especially at a time when Nigerians are facing tough times occasioned by rising cost of living.
Veteran dancehall artist, Daniel Wilson, was the first to stoke the fire when
he rallied Nigerians against the government, taking a direct swipe at Buhari in a new song titled ‘Never Again’ (See video) which gathered a storm of comments and reactions on social media.
2Face Idibia is about now gearing up to lead what is deemed the first nationwide protest against bad governance which is planned to kick-off on the 5th of February 2017 (Read his initial outburst here). A retinue of other stars like Olamide, Davido, Burna Boy etc have queued up behind 2Face as they seek to amplify the pain of thousands of disillusioned Nigerians.
Songstress Yemi Alade also took a swipe at government when she suggested recently that rather than probe the staging of Big Brother Naija outside the country, the government should be questioning the recent tragic killing of over 200 internal refugees in a case of ‘mistaken bombing’ at an IDP camp in Borno State. (See attached tweet below).
For Chocolate City Chairman, Audu Maikori, the uproar over his claim that Nigerian citizens were being senselessly murdered by so-called Fulani herdsmen in Southern Kaduna got the social media and the government thoroughly agitated a couple of days back. (See tweets below).
Eccentric and equally controversial musician and social critic, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charlyboy also surprised many when he took a detour recently, speaking publicly and openly declaring that he is a Biafran for the first time. (Read here).
See the 10 reasons why Buhari/APC have their heads on the chopping table of celebrities:
Plenty motion, no movement! The ‘Change’ mantra remains a mantra many moons after! The narrative about a new Nigeria looks like disappearing.
2. Read my lips! The land is littered with plenty of broken promises. Nigerians now ‘counting their teeth with their tongues’.
3. Body language gone awry! We are back to our old ways. Indiscipline reigns even inside Aso Rock, the president’s backyard! Magu versus DSS on our mind.
4.5. Divided we stand! : At least, everyone now agrees that Nigeria has never been this divided. IPOB, Biafra, Avengers, Herdsmen Vs Farmers, Christians Vs Muslims, the list goes on.
6. Change! Reverse mode activated!! Most stats, anywhere you find them, are pointing down south. Name it! Naira value, inflation, unemployment, etc.
7. Unleash the dragon! The goons in shaded glasses are back, like in the military era. The rule of law is about freezing in the cooler. Ask the Supreme Court Justices and Apostle Johnson Suleiman.
8. Return of the cabals! Junaid Mohammed hasn’t stopped talking about nepotism. Even the presidency has refused to deny it.
9. Do as I say, not as I do! Believe in Nigeria! The president is currently on medical vacation abroad. The handwriting is clear enough, isn’t it?
10. Welcome to a crazy future! (See video). Hunger, joblessness to the rescue! He who feels it, knows it. Check out the streets and battered shoes.
